Php problems and old wordpress set ups – Matrix Resurections

Tuesday, September 7th, 2021

Been a while since I did any blogging on here, but im back, and guess what,

Ive noticed these posts do need some upgrades and work due to some old links not working anymore and problems with videos that are uploaded on here displaying properly. Ive set those blogs with those problems to private till I fix it. Honestly I have alot going on so I must confess I haven’t been really in a hurry to fix anything. Call it hubris. While reading through these old blogs, many of the links no longer work, or the point I was making at the time appears to be lost. An example of this is where I point out on one blog where I saw an account is suspended vs closed and I use different examples for each. Checking out those links now, the links to youtube, you just get a 404 error. Alas, even on the internet, nothing lasts forever.

Also please no one use the form on the front page to contact me, I was alerted that it doesn’t work, something to do with the php. Again ive been slow to fix this so apologies, Ill come up with some other method to contact me.

What I did want to talk about though was the new Matrix movie arriving this december from warner bros:

So they are finally making a Matrix 4, and ive been thinking about making a new video about it, discussing what I hope they do in the movie. After Matrix Revolutions, I felt the Wachowskis dropped a number of seeds in the movies that could lead to a fourth movie. On my youtube channel I made a acouple videos back in the day, basically giving an idea what I would do with a Matrix 4, using clips from previous movies etc. Id like to think I was the first person to start using clips from Constantine to make it appear like its a fourth film, which later became quite common on youtube, people trying to fool viewers etc.

I was initially inspired to think about a Matrix 4 after the third film and when Matrix Online was released, a online game created by the wachowskis that is canon, I felt like the creators were kinda handing off the series to us the fans, asking, what will you do with it? Indeed if you watch this interview with the wachowskis they basically say exactly :that Now given the fact that the plot for Matrix 4 has been leaked there are some striking similarities to the version I would have done versus theirs:

1. Neo is back in the Matrix with apparently no explanation and no memory.
2. Morpheus returns as a bootleg copy which was created by Neo.
3. The Merovingian is back
4. The main thrust of the movie is about Neo remembering who he was and trying to get back to Trinity

Im not saying that anyone copied me or saw those trailers and got inspiration, but those similarities are odd, and certainly I found to be a strange coincidence, especially the whole theme of memory. Where Lana Wachowski goes with this though is in a completly different direction.

From looking at the trailers above, made by me back in 2009, that is essentially half the story. Half of the story deals with Neos memories, hes back, as a program, not as a flesh and blood human like the REAL Matrix 4 is. In the wachowskis version, hes a video game maker and he has to unite with Trinity who is back flesh and blood as well. In my version she exists in Neos mind, and since the Ones abilities permeate the Matrix, his subconcious peaks through in the form of Trinity and Morpheus reminding him of who he was. Its only when he does this he can move on with his new life.

In the wachowskis Matrix 4, hes actually trying to regain, and DOES get back his old ways to become the one again, and it would appear Trinity also has powers like Neo.

The version of Matrix 4 I imagined woud explain why Neo is back, which is that this process of recycling the one, is something all the previous ones go through. We would get to see and Neo would interact, with the previous ones, some would fight him, others would help him on his journey. The main female lead would end up becoming the seventh one, with Neo possibly getting back into the real world, given the machines were perserving his body, a fact we learned in matrix online.

The actualy direction the Wachowskis go in is very different then mine in the end. I was under the impression that Serpah and the Merovingian could in fact be previous ones but back in program form, like we would find Neo in Matrix 4. This I believe is NOT the direction they are going in. In fact the wachowskis have given hints as to who the previous ones were. In there mind, historical figures like Buddha and Jesus would have been previous ones, and like the garden of eden story, this would have been the heavenly Matrix, the first Matrix spoken about.

Oh course this is a very different interpretation that I had, but Im still excited to see what they end up doing with this movie. Ive been thinking about it for a long time, as I know alot of other people have as well. Curiously enough this movie almost comes out twenty years after the last Matrix movie, and that is the time frame I would initially have the movie set in, twenty years after Matrix Revolutions. Half way through the movie we would end up finding out that it is in fact at least a hundred years later since the events of the last film.

Update: looks like Warner Bros just released the trailer for the movie, looks very interesting, obviously they are going in a different direction then I had imagined…

Indiana Jones 5?

Sunday, February 2nd, 2014

So what do you think? Do we need another Indiana Jones movie? Maybe we don’t need one, but its no secret I love Indiana Jones and the series. Where else are you going to find an academic with a flavor for the supernatural? While some people have strong opinions about all the Indiana Jones movies, I rather enjoyed all of them and still do. The two least favorite among the populace seems to be Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull, both of which I liked.

When Temple of Doom came out in 1984, many people complained that it wasn’t for children, and maybe they were right, but was Raiders of the Lost Ark? Anyone remember the end scene when they open that Ark? Here is a refresher for all you kiddies.

Ive herd it said that Temple of Doom was a somewhat deviation from Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade in that it did not feature anyone from Indy’s past nor did it feature any of the Judeo-Christian beliefs from the other two. However what Temple of Doom did feature was some great action and real evil baddies. You know you are dealing with someone bad when we see Mola Ram pull out that guys heart, or what the distraught and poor indian village has been put through with there stolen children. In some ways one could argue this was Indy’s greatest and most dangerous challenge.  He wasn’t out to save the world from the Nazis but rather a village and children from a supernatural evil. There is no doubt there was a battle of Good versus Evil in this, demonstrated at the end on the bridge between Mola Ram and Indy.

In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I believe the makers were fighting an uphill battle. It was a long time since we saw Indiana Jones, everyone was older, some actors passed away, and even Spielberg himself was lukewarm about making another Indiana Jones movie. After all, after the ark and the grail what else could be the mystical item that Indy is after. I may be in a minority but I enjoyed Crystal Skull for its alien spin and playing on the ideas of Roswell and the many possibilities about “Area 51”.  It was great just to see Jones back in action and there is no doubt of the clout and following that Crystal Skulls have through out South America.

But will they make another Indiana Jones movie, I doubt it, but if they do what could it be about? What is Indiana Jones after this time. I was reading on the Internet the many ideas fans have. Atlantis, Spear of Destiny and many other items are all thrown around. In fact The Staff of Moses, which was made into a game, Atlantis and The Spear of Destiny have all been used in comics or books about Indiana Jones.  I wish I could say I came up with this idea, but I didn’t. I found someones ( Maximillian from Austrailia) ideas for Indiana Jones 5 and here it is:

Indiana Jones and the Son of Man

Indiana Jones is offered the chance to visit Palestine in the time of Christ in a joint U.S. Army/Vatican time-travel experiment—overseen by Albert Einstein, who is also part of Indy’s posse—to verify the existence of Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, a mysterious group bent on erasing Christ from history hijack the experimental base underneath the Vatican, and pursue Indy through the tunnels of Time, as Jones tries to save a man who neither needs nor wants saving.

Indiana Jones and the Son of Man

I liked this idea so much I decided to make a fan poster to match that description. Not only does the technological/secretive aspect of Crystal Skull make its way into this, but it also connects with Raiders and Last Crusade. It could explore the notion of effecting time and the consequences that has and it could feature a great enemy against our Hero in the way of black magik, just like in Temple of Doom. If this would be Indys final adventure, the stakes have got to be higher then ever, maybe too high, even for Indiana Jones?

It could also feature Indy passing the hat or adventurer mentality to his son or someone like him. After all Harrison Ford is getting a little old for the part. I’m not even against them going as far as killing off the character.

Indiana Jones was based loosely on Alan Quartermain and James Bond and for this movie to work, I’m thinking of the rather excellent James Bond Movie Skyfall. Skyfall featured a hero running out of time, past his prime, and in over his head every time.  When I saw Skyfall, I certainly was not thinking I would see a movie filled with spiritual themes, but it does. It features an older Bond being told time and time again hes to old, not good enough and he has to find the inner strength within himself to persevere.  Those are themes I would like to see in Indiana Jones 5, if it is to have Harrison Ford back.

What do you think, is this a good idea for Indiana Jones 5? Should Indy face off against the ultimate evil and be killed only to be revived by Christ himself? Let me know what you think…
